Any one in a Gallery?

I got asked today by a local customer if I had a Gallery they could go visit. I was pleased to find they like my work and think it should be in a Gallery.... My question to you guys is..
How does one get into a Gallery? what steps should I take? are there any bad things about being in a gallery?

I've always just sold at little markets (craftfairs and such) and only started online sales in November.. So I am still trying to find my way in the large markey of photography.

Any hint, suggestions, comments are much appreciated!!
